"And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!"

Philippians 2:8 (NIV)

I don't know about you, but I have been deeply challenged this advent season. As we quickly approach the birth of Christ, everything seems to be picking up a pace. At the start of this blog, I had about two weeks practically scheduled to go out and all of them planned at least. Earlier in the season, it was easier to give my time to make sure that these blog posts went out on time however as the season has gone on I have found that I am leaving it a lot closer. I sit to write this blog having had one of busiest days and running into my busiest period.

I sit and take a breath. Lord, please bless this time and help me to share your message.

I turn to the bible verse I have chosen today and it hits me square on. I know I am tired and so more emotional than usual but even still. I look and I read the passage. God, the almighty Father and creator of all, humbled Himself, became man and became obedient even to death - the worst kind of death known to man. Wow! God came to earth in an animals manger, no pomp and circumstance - the lowest of lows.

There are no words.

I wonder how different this world would be if even just for one day, we let go of our ego and humbled ourselves? How many of us, if given the chance to, would be humble even to death?

Reflect today: In a world of egos and being the best and telling everyone about it, maybe today, humble yourself? What can you do today to be more humble? After all, if God, the all-loving, all-powerful creator we know and love can come to us in a animals stable, of all places, you can be humble too.

A song comes mind and it just blows me away - Who is He.

Who is He on yonder stall,

At whose feet the shepherds fall?

‘tis the Lord the wondrous story,

‘tis the Lord the king of glory,

At His feet we humbly bow,

Crown Him, Crown Him, Lord of all!

Who is He on Mary’s knee,

That the angels come to see?

‘tis the Lord the wondrous story,

‘tis the Lord the king of glory,

At His feet we humbly bow,

Crown Him, Crown Him, Lord of all!

Who is He whom a star,

Led the wise men from afar?

‘tis the Lord the wondrous story,

‘tis the Lord the King of Glory,

At His feet we humbly bow,

Crown Him, Crown Him, Lord of all!

Who is He of whom we sing,

Jesus Christ the Infant King.

‘tis the Lord the wondrous story,

‘tis the Lord the King of Glory,

At His feet we humbly bow,

Crown Him, Crown Him, Lord of all!

Amen
